Jumping saddles are designed to move the rider forwards in the saddle so that they are over the horse's centre of balance when it jumps. The horse will be able to jump more easily as a result of this. The jump saddle has a flatter seat than a dressage saddle to help alter the rider's position. More padding on the flaps of a jumping saddle will support the rider and provide protection and security for their lower legs during a leap.
